Christmas at Hycroft – A Vancouver tradition for over 40 years!

There’s a load to see and do as you wander through the Courtyard and all three floors
of the stately Edwardian mansion’s many nooks and crannies.

General Alexander Duncan McRae, the original owner of Hycroft was one of Vancouver’s earliest millionaires, an extremely focused entrepreneur and leading socialite. By all accounts he was known as a visionary, hospitable and philanthropic gentleman.

Hycroft has had an illustrious history through the years, eventually being purchased by the University Women’s Club Vancouver in 1962.

The Hycroft Heritage Preservation Foundation was incorporated in 1991 and received charitable status in order to “fund, facilitate, promote and carry out activities and programs which promote the conservation, preservation and maintenance of the buildings and grounds… (known) as Hycroft.” It is important to University Women’s Club Vancouver (UWCV) members to serve the community by maintaining Hycroft. With this in mind, the public is invited to events held throughout the year, with Christmas at Hycroft being the largest single fundraiser.

Though Hycroft has been recognized by the City of Vancouver as a significant part of the community’s heritage, we are entirely dependent on donations. Hycroft Heritage Preservation Foundation (HHPF) funds many of the aesthetic aspects of this beautiful heritage property as well as some of the expensive, unseen necessities such as electric service and plumbing.

Donations to HHPF are tax deductible, and help preserve this wonderful example of Vancouver’s Edwardian heritage for future generations to learn from and enjoy.
